SOUTH BEND - Helen B. Zielinski, 87, passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 in Sanctuary at St. Paul. Helen was born December 16, 1923 in Mishawaka to the late John and Anna Baranowski. On October 9, 1948 she married Raymond J. Zielinski in South Bend, he preceded her in death along with a daughter, Bernadette Rayl; sister, Rita Urbanski; brothers, Edwin Baranowski and Thaddeus Baranowski. Helen leaves behind her children, Carolyn (Eugene) Faulstich of Plymouth, Damian (Denice) Zielinski of South Bend and Alfred (Nancy) Zielinski of South Bend; as well as nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Helen lived in the South Bend area until she enlisted in the Women's Branch of the United States Marine Corps., where she served her country stateside in various locations for 22 months. Helen was active member of the Knights of Columbus and a dedicated parishioner of Holy Cross and St. Jude Church. She was also a member of the Women's Marine Association and the Marine Corp. Auxiliary, and gave her time as a mentor to Logan Center. Helen had a great love for family and oil painting. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, July 18, 2011 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Rd., South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in St. Jude Church, 19704 Johnson Rd., South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana 702 S. Chapin St. South Bend, IN. 46601. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net
