SOUTH BEND - Gary John Slock went to be with Our Lord at 11:04 pm on Friday, June 3, 2016, after a brief illness, in Hospice care.Gary was born to the marriage of Adiel and Serseena (Boenne/Bauer) Slock in South Bend. Gary is survived by his children, Jon of St. Paul, MN, Stephannie, Andrew and Marilyn, all of South Bend; grandchildren, Amber Stoops, Carter and Parker Slock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is the mother of his children and wife of 26 years, Jane E. Slock (Trzybinski). He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edwin R. Bauer, and his previous wife, Marilyn A. Slock (Dhoore).Gary attended local parochial schools and graduated Cum Laude from Trine (Tri-State) University in 1966 and Magna Cum Laude from the University of Toledo on an academic scholarship in 1967. He achieved licensure as a Certified Public Accountant in Indiana in 1969. Gary served his country during the Vietnam conflict as an Infantry Sergeant (E-5) and was honorably discharged in 1974. His accounting career commenced at Price Waterhouse & Co. where he attained the level of Audit Manager. He had held senior finance positions with the former Tyler Refrigeration Corp., John Todd Organization, Jordan Auto Group and Riverridge/Riverview managed care facilities. He was an adjunct accounting instructor with Ferris State University. Dad's greatest pleasures were golf and dining out with his children and grandchildren. A celebration of our father's life will be held 1 hour prior to a Memorial Mass at 11 am on Monday, June 13, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. Published in South Bend Tribune on June 8, 2016
