Ruth Marilee (Tetzlaff) McCollum Barnhart, 87, residing in South Bend, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 26, 2021, at her home. Ruth was born on July 4, 1934, in South Bend to Harry Tetzlaff and Daisy (Hostetler) Tetzlaff, who both preceded her in death. Ruth enjoyed family gatherings, her fishing trips to Lake Erie and always talked about her Alaskan cruise. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth was always there when anyone needed her because she was very loving and caring. She was united in marriage to Clyde Barnhart, who preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by her children, David McCollum of South Bend, Edward McCollum of Mishawaka, Dawn Rhrodes McCollum, Brian McCollum of South Bend, and Craig McCollum of South Bend; six grandchildren, Anna Crist, Leonard Crist, Lindsey McCollum, Ashley Carrico, David Lee McCollum, and Aaron McCollum; five great grandchildren, Jacob, Lexy, Khloe, Braxton and Mason; and siblings, Alice Basham, Janice Kurz, Ardith Mornout, Allen “Butch” Tetzlaff, Gene Tetzlaff, and Jerry (Cherrie) Tetzlaff. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Rebecca Crist and Vicki McCollum; two grandchildren, Andrew Crist and Matt McCollum; and siblings, Jacquline Tetzlaff, Burt Tetzla The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jen, Collins and everyone at the Center for Hospice for their loving care of Ruth. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
