CASSOPOLIS - Richard E. Majewski, 79, of Cassopolis, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2010, in Elkhart General Hospital after an extended illness. He was born August 1, 1930, in Cassopolis the son of the late Frank and Bertha (Kucharski) Majewski and was a lifetime area resident. Richard married the former Sharon L. Hornung on Feb. 7, 1959, in Dowagiac and she survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Cheryl Reed of Union, MI, and Jennifer West of Cassopolis; two grandchildren, Colleen Reed and Calton Smith; and a sister, Irene Wroblewski of New Carlisle, IN. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Casmir Majewski, Chester Majewski, Joe Majewski, Ted Majewski and Ben Majewski; and four half brothers, Alex Majewski, Roman Majewski, Frank Majewski and Stanley Majewski. Richard was a lifetime farmer and retired from Miles Laboratories in Elkhart, IN. He was a US Army Korean War veteran and was a member of the Edwardsburg American Legion Post #365. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2010, at 6 p.m. in the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis. Officiating will be Rev. Bill Bruneau, Pastor of Penn Friends Community Church, Cassopolis. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 p.m. until the service. Military honors will be rendered by members of the Edwardsburg American Legion Post #365. Cremation will follow the service with interment of the cremains in the Reams & Norton Cemetery, Cassopolis at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Cass County Animal Shelter, Cassopolis.
