MISHAWAKA - Ralph Joseph Futterknecht, 93, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Englewood, Florida, and Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at home at Bella Vita, Venice. Ralph was born June 29, 1922, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Godfrey and Edith Futterknecht. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1940. A World War II veteran, he served in the United States Army as a tank commander in Germany. He worked for over 43 years in research and development and production coordination at Uniroyal in Mishawaka. A 31-year resident of Alameda Isles, Englewood, Ralph enjoyed many happy hours and euchre games with friends. He also was a member of the Elks and Boca Royal Golf and Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Joyce M. Templin Futterknecht; son, Terry L. Futterknecht; son and daughter-in-law, David J. Futterknecht and Susan A. Kovach; sister-in-law, Janice Sanford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ann Brady.Private visitation was held at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home in Venice, FL, followed by cremation.
