Peter G. Dykhuizen, Sr., 58, of Lafayette, died at 5 AM Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1970, in his home; he had been ill for one year. The son of George and Alberta Goris Dykhuizen, he was born and reared here, and was a graduate of Jefferson High School. He lived in the South Bend area from 1936 until 1956 when he returned to Lafayette. In 1942, he married Clara Squadroni in South Bend. She survives and is a clerk at the Women's Clinic. Mr. Dykhuizen was a graduate of several industrial management courses in South Bend and was an industrial engineer at Alcoa for the past 14 years. He was also an industrial engineer for many years at the Studebaker plant in South Bend. He was a well-known musician in the Lafayette area, playing with various bands and orchestras. Mr. Dykhuizen is a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church, Lafayette Christian School Society, and Industrial Management Club of Tippecanoe County. He was made a lifetime member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 278 of South Bend and was active in a number of musical organizations while there. Surviving with the widow are one son, Peter Dykhuizen, Jr. of Lafayette; his mother, Mrs. Alberta Dykhuizen of Lafayette; four brothers, Horace M. Dykhuizen of Fort Wayne, Ralph E. Dykhuizen, Marvin F. Dykhuizen, both of Lafayette, and Wilbur L. Dykhuizen of Cincinatti, OH; and two grandsons, Andrew and Troy Dykhuizen. Service Nov. 6 at Hippensteel Chapel, the Rev. John C. Ribbons officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
