Joseph Mitchell Szulczyk

Joseph Mitchell Szulczyk, aged 62, of 429 South Jackson street died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in his home after seven months' illness. He was born in South Bend March 2, 1884, and lived all his life here. He was married 40 years ago to Cecelia Sobczak, who survives. He leaves also two sons, Joseph Jr. and Louis E., South Bend.; three daughters, Mrs. Renatha Krempec, Mrs. Evelyn Lisek and Mrs. Theodosia Stopczynski, all of South Bend; a brother Martin, and a sister, Mrs. John K. Smogor, both of South Bend, and seven grandchildren. He was a maintenance worker for the county highway department. Friends will be received in the home after 6 p.m. today and until the funeral at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Adalbert's Catholic church. Rev. Ignatius Gapczynski will sing the mass and burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery. Mr. Szulczyk was a member of St. Stanislaus society, the St. John the Evangelist society and the West Side Democratic club. Published in the South Bend Tribune; Sunday, Nov. 24, 1946.
