Arlene K. Andert, 67, of 1801 S. Douglas Street, passed away after an extended illness at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, in the Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Andert worked in sales at the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She was born on Jan. 29, 1935, in South Bend, Ind., to Victor and Elsie Gyorkos, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Victor Gyorkos.She is survived by two daughters, Barbara J. Andert and Patricia A. Andert, both of South Bend; three sons, Joseph M. Andert and Michael A. (Margie) Andert, both of South Bend, and Matthew V. (Nicki) Andert of Elkhart, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, Brad, Joseph Z., Sara, Kristy, Thomas, Amanda, Joseph S., Jennifer, Michael A., Kari, Steve, Jessie and Ashley; and by two sisters, Elsie A. (Mario) Santarossa of Indianapolis, Ind., and Gloria Siderits of South Bend. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Editor: As Arlene Gyorkos she married Joseph G. Andert on 7-24-1954 in St. Joseph County IN. He died 2-1-1979 while living in Mishawaka.
