Dorothy Mae (McCormick) Walker, 84, of Lincoln Way East, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away of natural causes at 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, in the St. Joseph Care Center West. Mrs. Walker was born on Oct. 13, 1915, to Edward and Donna (Thate) McCormick in South Bend, Ind. On Oct. 9, 1927, she married O. Everett Walker in South Bend. He preceded her in death in October 1995. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Richard McCormick and Eugene McCormick. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Ann Gorbacz of South Bend; two sons, James Everett Walker of Millersport, Ohio, and Richard Guy Walker of Kannapolis, N.C.; two sisters, Donna Hennessey of Bloomington, Ind., and Ruth Murphy of Indianapolis; and by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Walker was a graduate of South Bend Central High School, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary of Avalon Grotto, and the Zion United Church of Christ. We cherish the memory of our loving mother. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. today, March 24, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind. Services will begin at 2 p.m. today, with Reverend Jack Cary officiating at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. South Bend Tribune 3/24/2000
