WALKERTON - Evelyn E. Kopanski, 84, of Walkerton, died Sunday, December 21, 2008. She was born to Leon and Stella Lasocha on August 22, 1924, in Chicago, IL. She was a lifelong area resident of the Walkerton area. On November 19, 1961, she married Vincent Kopanski. He preceded her in death in May 1969. Evelyn loved gardening and was a hard worker. She enjoyed traveling, and was caring and nurturing towards her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Evelyn was a member of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau and Rily Road Homemakers Extension Club. She is survived by her daughter, Kristine (Darrin) Tolleson of North Liberty; a grandson, Vincent; one brother, Eugene Lasocha of Walkerton; a niece, Karen (LeRoy) Lasocha-Norman of Fort Wayne; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Wallis; two nephews, John and Dennis Wallis, all of Chicago, IL. Lifelong friends include Ruth Rensberger of Plymouth and Bernice Jensen of LaPorte. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at 11:00 (EST) from the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home in Walkerton, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations in loving memory of Evelyn may be made to Marshall County Hospice.
