Shkeep "Skeeter" Siade
Feb. 26, 1924 - Sept. 4, 2012

SOUTH BEND - Shkeep "Skeeter" Siade, 88, passed away at 11:50 am Tuesday, September 4, 2012, in his residence surrounded by his family. Shkeep was born February 26, 1924, in Mishawaka, to the late Albert and Rumza (Hamood) Siade. Shkeep is also preceded in death by sisters, Reaffa Miller and Minnie Wyatt, and a brother, Ed Siade. On May 28, 1949, in South Bend, Shkeep married Mary Ann Fleishaker, who survives along with children, Deborah (Paul) Gjemre of South Bend, Michele (Rick) Ecker of Wellington, FL, Kevin (Vicki) Siade, Drew (Lori) Siade, both of South Bend; grandchildren, Daina and Kristofer Gjemre, Kalyn and Colene Siade, Alyse, Nicholas and Janelle Ecker, and Megan Andrysiak; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Weddad Horvath of South Bend, Moniefa (Babe) Wadsworth of Edwardsburg, Theweah Hartig and Marian Slabaugh of Mishawaka; brothers, Neaman Siade of Osceola, Sy Siade of Elkhart, Joe Siade of Granger, Allie Siade of South Bend and Ralph Siade of Belleville, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Shkeep honorably served in the United States Army Coast Artillery Corps and served in Panama for 27 months. He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He worked in Product Design for the former South Bend Lathe. Shkeep was a member of the Moose Lodge, and the Notre Dame Quarterback Club. He was a retired member of Notre Dame Stadium personnel, where he assisted with college move-in and move-out days, where he developed returning friendships. Shkeep also was an usher and section captain for 46 years as he rooted for his beloved Irish. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., where a funeral service will be celebrated at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the family may be made to Hospice Foundation, 4220 Edison Lakes Parkway, Suite 210, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to the Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136.
