Kathy A. Eby, 68, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in her home. Kathy was born on April 18, 1953 in South Bend to William and Dorothy (Bentkowski) Lagodney and was a lifelong resident. She retired in 2015 as the co-owner of Eby’s Old Fashioned Meat Market. On August 26, 1972 in St. Casimir Church, she married Merlin K. Eby, who survives. Kathy is also survived by her son, Jamie J. Eby of San Francisco, California; her sister, Carol (Jim) Davis of South Bend, Indiana; her brother, Don (Linda) Lagodney of South Bend, Indiana; and her nieces and nephews (and their children), with whom she shared a special bond and loved dearly. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Kathy will be buried at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Kathy was a member of Holy Family Parish and the American Legion Post #284 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling to California to visit her son and nephew, explore the food scene, and walk along the beaches. She was always ready for a game of bingo or Phase10.
