Virginia Papai, 93, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, in Memorial Hospital. She was born April 22, 1919 in Ligonier, Indiana, to the late Arthur and Lillian (Tutt) Reed. On November 28, 1938 in Albion, IN, Virginia (Reed) married Joseph Andrew Papai Sr. who passed away October 26, 1986.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Papai in 1995, and her sons, Frank, Arthur, and Michael J. Papai, sisters, Mary Reed Wright, Louise Reed, and Laura Reed, two brothers, William and Robert Reed. Virginia is survived by her son, Joseph (Beverly D.) Papai Jr., of Bloomfield Twp., Michigan. Virginia attended St. Matthews Catholic Church. She was a volunteer and active at Logan Center. Virginia was an amateur pianist, and dancer, with Dan O'Day Dance Club. She dedicated much of her life to care for her daughter Elizabeth Ann, who was home bound, during her 43 years of life.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2012 at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., with Rev. Jacob Runyon officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Friday. In Virginia's memory, contributions may be made to Logan Center, 2505 E.
