Kathryn T. Wartha (March 1, 1908 - March 20, 2001)

Kathryn T. Wartha, 93, of the Lakeland Continuing Care Center, St. Joseph, Mich., died at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, in the care center. She was born on March 1, 1908, in South Bend, Ind., and was the daughter of John and Veronica (Major) Nemes. On Oct. 20, 1934, as Kathryn Nemes, she married Edward Wartha, who preceded her in death on July 18, 1984. Also preceding her in death were three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Pat (Robert) Schultheis of St. Joseph; a son, Lawrence (Linda) Wartha of South Bend; five grandchildren, Gregory, Mark, Thomas, Michael and Jeanne; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Kolosai of Cleveland, Ohio; and by several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Christ the King Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Wartha was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society, also of the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeland Continuing Care Center Volunteer Association, 3425 Lakeshore Drive, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
