Virginia M. Rutkowske, 68, of Niles, passed away at her home being cared and surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 21, 2013, following an illness. She was born to the late William James and Eulla (Norris) Richardson on July 30, 1945 in Portsmouth, Virginia. On January 13, 1978 she wed Rodney "Rod" Rutkowske at a ceremony at their home in Niles, Michigan. Virginia was always active, enjoying her time on the tennis court, and outdoors during the winters they spent in Florida. However, her most cherished time was the time she spent with her family and friends. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the former Pawating Hospital, currently Lakeland Community Hospital She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons Mike Ellis of Niles and Matt Ellis (Michael Stockbridge) of Cape Coral, Florida , Rod's children; Robert (Linda) Rutkowske of Niles, Kyle (Brenda) Rutkowske of Alvin, Texas and Alonda (Scott) Martin of Sweeney, Texas. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and her nine great-grandchildren. The family gathered privately to remember Virginia.
