MISHAWAKA - Felicia (Phyllis) Lester Lochmondy, age 90, of Lake Cora, Lawrence, MI, originally Mishawaka, IN, died November 15, 2015, at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI. She was born December 23, 1924, in Mishawaka, to the late Stanley and Alvina (Bauer) Lester. She is survived by her husband, George J. Lochmondy Jr. of 68 years, whom she married on February 15, 1947; a son, John (Kim) Lochmondy of Granger, IN; a daughter, Mary (John) Vermeersch of Celina, OH; five grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Ronald (Jim) Fisher, Elkhart; and a sister-in-law, B. Jean Anderson, South Bend, IN. She was preceded in death by a brother, Maynard Lester. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1944 and lived in Mishawaka all her life until retiring to Lake Cora in 1988. While in Mishawaka, she was very active in the community, serving as Precinct Committee woman for many years, President of the Democrat Ladies Club, President of the first East End Little League Auxiliary, and Secretary of the Mishawaka Democratic Central Committee. She retired as Chief Deputy of the Penn Township Assessors office in 1989 after 25 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur, MI. Private services will be held for immediate family at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Phyllis's name to the Mishawaka Hospice.
