According to the 1900 census of South Bend, Indiana, Paul Cylka, a farm laborer, and his wife Helena had both been born in German Poland, had been married 25 years, and had immigrated in 1882. Helena had had 12 children of whom 6 were living, five at home (in birth order): John born in Michigan; Helena, Antonina/Anna, Rozalia, and Antoni, all born in Indiana. (Their son Paul was not living at home in 1900.)

At the time of the 1910 and 1920 censuses of South Bend, Helen's sons, John and Anthony were living with her.

Helena died in 1930. Her date and place of death are given in her Indiana death certificate for which the informant was Mrs. Anna Smith, known from other records to be her daughter. Anna reported that her mother was a widow. It was her understanding that her mother was born Dec. 19, 1852 in Germany to Henry Rayman.
