Prominent Baroda Dairy Farmer Dies

August Totzke,68, former president of Producer's Creamery, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday in his home at route 1, Totzke Road, Baroda. Mr. Totzke was born in Lincoln Township on Aug 17, 1902, the son of August and Augusta Gast Totzke. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Totzke was president of the creamery from 1949 until 1954 and president or the Berrien County Milk Producers Association in 1952. He was a member of the Berrien County Farm Bureau and the Berrien Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He also served on the Lincoln Township Association as treasurer. Surviving are his widow, the former Emma Nitz, whom he married in Baroda on Sept. 14, 1924; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Virginia) Radewald of Niles and Mrs. Lynn (Stella) Bowers of Comstock Park; two sons, Gerald (Bud) Totzke of Baroda and Edgar Totzke of St. Joseph; 13 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Marie) Ehlert of Bridgman, Mrs. Hertha Gess and Mrs. Raymond (Margaret) Leatz, both of St. Joseph and Mrs. Olga Kreiger of Baroda; six brothers, Herman of Coloma, Richard of Bridgman, Albert of Stevensville, Henry of South Haven, Louis and Benjamin both of Baroda. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Zion United Church of Christ, Baroda. Burial will be in Spring Run cemetery. Friends may call at the Kerlikowske and Starks funeral home after 7 p.m.
