Eugene John Wizieck, 89, peacefully passed away 20 November at the Center for Hospice Care. Eugene was born to Leo and Stella (Senderak) Wizieck in Michigan City, IN. He graduated from Austin High School in Chicago, IL before proudly serving in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 onboard the U.S.S. Guilford (APA 112) during the closing of WWII. Eugene was a longtime active member in the American Legion Post 451, the Knights of Columbus Council 553, and was passionately devoted to serving his parish of St. Anthony De Padua. He delighted in providing the freshest produce in Michiana by owning and running Gene’s Produce. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Lorraine L. (Hartwig) Wizieck; daughter Susan Barnabe (Roger) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; two sons, John Eugene of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Paul Henry of South Bend; six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 24 2015 at St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615. Friends my gather one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery Michigan City. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the charity of your choice in his name.
