Rose Mary (Balzano) Nisley, 67, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly, Monday evening, July 11, 2022, at her home. Rose was born on Aug. 16, 1954, in the province of Reggio Calabria, town of Gioiosa Ionica, Italy, to Giuseppe Joseph Balzano and Palma Rosa (Iemma) Balzano. Rose was preceded in death by her father, Giuseppe, brother Rocco Balzano and sister Angela Michel. Surviving are her son Danny E. Nisley Jr.; her loving grandson, Dominic Thomas; two brothers, Antonio J. (Tracy) Balzano and John Balzano; and her sister Teresa Ann (Gregory) Kelly; as well as two nieces and four nephews. Rose loved art, music and was a huge Beatles fan. She was a faithful Catholic and member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, where she attended school and graduated from Marion High School. Rose loved sports, especially the Chicago Bears. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., where the evening will conclude with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. led by the Rev. Ben Landrigan. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 15, at 11 a.m. with one hour calling prior, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St., Elkhart. The Rev. Craig Borchard will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery. Condolences may be made online to Rose's family at www.billingsfuneralhome.com.
