Melvin A. Klute, 83, passed away at 3:20am Sunday, October 4, 2015 in Healthwin Specialize Care Facility. Melvin was born on March 30, 1932 in Three Oaks, MI to Alfred and Hazel (Heckathorn) Klute. He retired in 1994 from AM General, was veteran of the United States Marine Corps, member of St. John the Baptist Church and Past President and member of the former St. Anthony Society. On June 8, 1957 he married the former Anna Szucsits who survives along with three daughters Kim (Mike) Jacoby of Fort Wayne, Karrie (Tom) Bland of Spring Grove, IL, and Kelly (Corina Opaczewski) Klute of South Bend, two sons Kip (Mary) Klute and Kurt Klute both of South Bend, six grandchildren Andrew, Kory, Marcus, Zachary, Michael, and Kole and two great-grandchildren Kalub and Laihlee. Mel was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert Klute. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm Saturday, October 10, 2015 in St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00am until services Saturday in the church. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John the Baptist Church.
