MISHAWAKA - Virginia Geyer, 89, passed away on Friday, May 3 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Virginia was born on August 22, 1923 in Valparaiso to John and Bertha (Mazurkiewicz) Holewinski. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ted Holewinski. On September 11, 1950 in Angola, IN she married Robert J. Geyer. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2004. Surviving are a daughter, Sue (Tim) Bathke of South Bend; a son, Michael (Sharon) Geyer of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Andrew M. Geyer, Richard G. Geyer, David E. Geyer, Charles G. (Katrina) Roush and John C. Roush and a sister, DeEtta Letourneau of Florida. Virginia was a Secretary to the Superintendent of School City Mishawaka and she also worked for St. Joseph Trust (Key Bank) in South Bend. She was a member of Mishawaka Women's Club, retired secretaries, Indiana PTA and a lifetime member Bridge Club since WWII. Virginia had a wonderful love for her family and she had a very strong faith that got her through all aspects of her life. Visitation will be on Monday, May 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert. The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Bavo Catholic Church.
