Services for Lewis R. Koontz, 57, of Chestnut Street, who died at 3:46 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital of natural causes, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home. Burial wil be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Mr. Koontz retired in 1984 from Bendix Corp., where he had been employed 34 years. He was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Chicago and lived in Mishawaka for 30 years, coming from Niles. On May 25, 1952, in Niles, he married Jeanne Johnson. She survives, along with a daughter, Karen Keltz of Mishawaka; two sons, Robert of Mishawaka and Richard of Boston; five grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Faretra of Woburn, Mass.; and his mother, Alene Koontz of Mishawaka. A son, Larry, died in 1974. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the First Brethern Church, Tri Valley R-C Club, Bendix Management Club and a graduate of Tri-State University, Angola, Ind.
