Mary E. “Mike” Niezgodski, 88, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 5:38 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2023, in her daughter Terri’s home. Mary was born on August 20, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana to Alex and Mary (Nemes) Miko and was a lifelong resident. She had been employed as a Telephone Operator at St. Joseph Regional Medical center for 22 years. On June 23, 1956, in the former Sacred Heart Church in South Bend, she married Cornelius “Connie” Niezgodski, who preceded her in death on January 26, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Michael; and three sisters, Delores Latkowski, Betty Jane Morris and Mary Louise Cornelis. Mary is survived by two daughters, Terri Lynne Keirnan and Heidi M. (Frank) Lanko both of South Bend, Indiana; three sons, Keith M. (Kim) Niezgodski, Kelly J. Niezgodski and Tracy A. Niezgodski all of South Bend, Indiana; and six grandchildren, Matthew, Krista, Kalie, Taylor, Payton and Mallory. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2023 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. “Mike” enjoyed word search puzzles, movies and reading. She loved spending time with her friends in bowling leagues and tournament time. She also enjoyed her breakfast club at the former Cedar House.
