On the morning of April 29, 2021, Salvatore I. Valente, 77, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer while being comforted by family. Salvatore was born in Simbario, Italy, on June 12, 1943, to the late Domenico and Francesca (Timpano) Valente. He is predeceased by siblings Joe (Anna), Bruno, Dominic, Fortunato, Rosina, Vittoria (Rocco), and Maria. Salvatore is survived by his daughter Frances (Matthew Preston) Valente; son Anthony Valente; brother Rocco (Marianne) Valente; sisters-in-law Santina Valente and Josephine Valente; brother-in-law Frank Funaro; and many nieces and nephews. Salvatore served honorably in the United States Army. He retired from IBM after 32 years of dedicated service.Funeral services for Salvatore will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN.
