SOUTH BEND - Rita J. Lorence, 83, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2008, at 1 a.m. in Vineyard's Adult Family Care Home, Galien, MI with her family by her side. Rita was born on January 6, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Adam and Harriet (Wierzbinski) Bartkiewicz. On January 15, 1946, she married Stanley P. Lorence, who passed away on May 18, 1985. She is survived by her two daughters, Jeanette Wagnerowski of South Bend, and Diane (Joseph) Lemrow of Edwardsburg, MI; two grandchildren, Lynn (Steve) Torrijas of South Bend, and Neil Lemrow of Edwardsburg, MI; great-granddaughter, Emily Noland; step-grandchildren, Erin and Jude Lemrow; step-great-grandchild, Stephen Torrijas; two sisters, Lucille Krakowski, and Loretta (Bob) Fenimore of South Bend; and by Jill Deka, a "special" daughter. Rita was a member of St. Casimir Parrish, and St. Ann's Society. She graduated from South Bend Catholic High School. Rita enjoyed spending Sunday's at the beach. Planning holidays and keeping her family well fed were her greatest joys. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 13, 2008, from 3 to 7 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 14, 2008, at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir Catholic Church. Entombment in Resurrection Garden will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. The family has strongly requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane St. Joseph, MI 49085 or to Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
