Mary Lou Pozsgai
Nov. 22, 1927 - May 22, 2008

SOUTH BEND - Mary Lou Pozsgai, 80, of South Bend, IN, died at 3:21 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, in Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 22, 1927, to the late Joseph F. and Mary (Pali) Szabo in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents; one brother, Joseph A. Szabo also preceded her in death.
Mary Lou was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted most of her time to her children and grandchildren. On May 24, 1952, as Mary Lou Szabo, she married Joseph R. Pozsgai Sr. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in South Bend. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Joseph R. Pozsgai Sr. of South Bend; three daughters, Kathleen (Fritz) Kilbury of Granger, IN; Rosanne (Pat) Molenda of South Bend; and Cheryl (Bill) O'Brien of South Bend; one son, Joseph R. (Sue) Pozsgai Jr. of Granger; 11 grandchildren, Michael and Mary Molenda, John, Anne, and Rachel Kilbury, Bill, Sean, and Kate O'Brien, and Eric, Megan, and Matthew Pozsgai; one sister, Lillian (Albert) Dhaene of South Bend; one sister-in-law, Mary Pozsgai of South Bend; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mary Lou was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, where she sang in the choir. She was also a volunteer Tour Guide at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2008, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2822 Corpus Christi Drive, South Bend, IN 46628.
