SOUTH BEND - George Rojics, 93, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2009, in St. Luke's Hospital, Jacksonville, FL. He had resided the last ten eleven years in Florida with his son George and his amily. George, the oldest of eight children, was born on June 17, 1915, in South Bend, to George and Elizabeth (Magyar) Rojics Sr. He retired in July 1980 from Torrington Company where he was employed for 39 years. On October 17, 1939, he married Angeline Deak, who preceded him in death on June 11, 1988. Survivors include two sons, George F. (Peggy) Rojics of Jacksonville, FL, and Louis (Sheila) Rojics of Granger, IN; six grandchildren, Kristie (Mark) Berntsen, Jeffrey (Julie) Rojics, Kerry (Stephen) Boggus, Daniel (Lynda) Rojics, David Rojics and Dawn Rojics; 12 great-grandchildren and a great- great-granddaughter; and one sister, Betty Houghton of South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009, in St. Pius X Church. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, and from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday in St. Pius X Church. George was a member of the BK Archery Club in Mishawaka. He enjoyed "putzing" around in his workshops in South Bend as well as in Jacksonville. A continuing memory of Grandpa George will always be in the beautiful items such as furniture, jewelry boxes, toys, cradles and baseball bats he crafted from wood.
