MISHAWAKA - Hajji Helen Ann Jojo-Simon went to meet her Maker on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the age of 88, at Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by her three children and a large extended family with love and prayers at her bedside. May God receive her with His blessings. As a faithfull Muslim, Helen was buried the following day at Fairview Cemetery in accordance to the Islamic Burial Rites. Helen was born , raised, and lived in Mishawaka. She worked at Singers until they closed and retired from Ball Band (Uniroyal) after thirty years. She owned and operated the Soda Bar in the early 50's, downstairs at Jojo's Grocery Store in Mishawaka. She is survived by her children, Vivian Afefe, and two sons, Larry Ahmed (LaFaye) and Mohamed Allie Sr. (Ann) along with her sister, Hajji Eva Aliya Jojo and her brother, Mohamed J. Jojo Sr., 10 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, 16 nephews/nieces, 29 great-nephews/nieces and 9 great-great nephew & nieces, most of whom were with her when she passed away. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Ahmed and Aossiah Jojo, her sister, Hajji Hamedy and husband, (Abdul-Ghafour), her brother-in-law, Abdul-Ghani, her brother, Allie and his wife (Elaine), her niece, Karen and Karen's son, Troy, an infant great-grandson, Mohamed Allie Simon III and an infant niece, Aossiah Mohamed Jojo. Helen will be dearly missed by those who knew her and loved her. Memorial contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the Homeless Shelter. Published in South Bend Tribune on June 8, 2014
