ELKHART - Helena Bachnivsky Cook, 56, passed away Sunday at Elkhart General Hospital.. Helena was born Nov. 21, 1958 in Villa Niteroi, Rio Grande De Sol, Brazil, to Alexander and Maria (Olefirenko) Bachnivsky. Helena moved to the Elkhart area at an early age and graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1976.. Survivors include her parents, Alexander and Maria, and her children, Alisa Cook of Naples, Florida, Evan Cook and Kristyn Cook, both of Granger. Also surviving is her brother, George Bachnivsky of Roanoke.. There will be two hours of visitation prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service Wednesday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart.. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Goshen.. She was employed for several years as an X-ray technician in the Elkhart area. In her spare time, she enjoyed walking and spending time outdoors in her flower garden, collecting angels and spending time with her children. She was an active member at Beulah Missionary Church of Goshen and was the past president of the PTO at Mary Feeser Elementary School in Elkhart.
