Charlotte L. (Rinne) Baranay
April 9, 1929 ~ March 26, 2020 (age 90)
Charlotte L. (Rinne) Baranay passed away March 26, 2020 peacefully at her home in South Bend, Indiana. Her daughters Catherine (Rob) Kastens and Courtney (Peter Chism) are beyond grateful that their prayers that she be able to live out her years in the home she loved filled with her animals, treasures, and youngest granddaughter were answered. Charlotte (or “Auntie Mame”, as her beloved nieces and nephews adoringly called her) was born in Chicago, IL on April 9, 1929 to Arthur C. Rinne (1944) and Gertrude A. Imhoff (1980). She is also preceded in death by her sister, Eloise Canfield, and husband, Allen A. Baranay. In her younger years Charlotte was an avid cook, an amazing seamstress, a fabulous gardener, and a fairly decent ice dancer, a hobby she took up in her 40’s when she lived in Evanston, IL, and of which she was quite proud. She relished her years working as an Administrative Assistant for Borg Warner, International, where she made many friends who would become like family, and Allen, whom she would marry on August 1, 1968, and later at Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed working for another dear friend in the IUSB School of Dental Hygiene for a few years after she retired from Memorial. She was able to travel extensively which gave her an heir of glamorous which her family adored about her. She doted on and loved fiercely her five grandchildren Riley, Reagan, Dylan, Colin, and Wynn. She was blessed to have grandchildren and great-grandchildren by her three step-children, Christine, Peter and Anne. As Charlotte loved to throw a good party and would want a champagne toast for her and her life well lived, we will be doing that at a later date when the world is not paused for the coronavirus.
