George M. Wasil, age 85, of McHenry, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Crystal Lake. He was born September 26, 1923 in Chicago to Leon and Antonina (Kuca) Wasilewski. Formerly of St. Charles, George moved to McHenry in 2007. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a civil engineer for P.W.C. for over 20 years at Great Lakes Naval Base. He also worked as a civil engineer for the F.A.A, and at Raytheon in Des Plaines. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during WWII, and was a member of St. Marys Church in McHenry. Survivors include his wife, Marie (nee Seidler), of McHenry; four children, Gina (Steve) Stimac of Dyer, Indiana, Rosanne (Tom) Swanson of Lakemoor, Mark Wasil of Elmhurst, and Brian Wasil of Forest Park; six grandchildren, David, Angela, Sarah, Amy, Caitlin, Jacob, a brother, Leonard (Lois) Wasilewski of Knox, Indiana, and a sister, Eleanor Spooner of Attleboro, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mildred and Elsie. Visitation will be from noon until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at St. Marys Church, 1401 N. Richmond Road, McHenry, IL 60050. The funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Robert Balog officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at St. Marys Cemetery, McHenry. Memorials to Catholic Charities or Vitas Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
