Frank E. Grayckowski, 89, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 30, 1931 to the late Frank J. and Catherine (Metras) Grayckowski in South Bend, IN, and has lived in New Carlisle since 1960. Along with his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie “Marge” Grayckowski; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki (Fred) Schuler; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen (Richard “Dick”) Nimtz; two brothers and sister-in-law, Elmer (Evelyn), and Robert Grayckowski; two nephews, Stanley Grayckowski and Michael Nimtz. Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954, where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. Frank retired from the Bendix Corporation, where he worked as a Punch Press Operator for 32 years. He also worked for his sister, Mary Ellen Nimtz, at Valley Lea Laboratory in Mishawaka, IN for many years. On December 27, 1952, he married Marjorie “Marge” West at Fort Leonard Wood in the Missouri Ozarks. Marge passed away on January 30, 2018. Frank is survived by his daughter, Patti (Joe) Searing of New Carlisle, IN; grandchildren, Sarah Konewko of Volvo, IL; Frank Eaton of Beavercreek, OH; Michael Searing of New Carlisle, IN; Misty Schuler (Myers-Mumford) and Amber Schuler, (Jason Springer) of Prescott, AZ; Dustin Searing (Samantha Kasinger) of LaPorte, IN; great grandchildren, Ryan and Alex Konewko; Brock and Arabella Eaton; Chanstin and Rarity Searing; Bradley, Jerome Mumford and Tiffany Myers; Anna and Erik Springer; and many nieces and nephews. Frank was a member of the American Legion Post 297 in New Carlisle, IN; and both the Hudson Lake Church of Christ in New Carlisle, IN and the Deer Run Church of Christ in South Bend, IN. Following retirement, he spent countless hours donating his time and talents for various church projects. Frank enjoyed his daily devotions and reading the Bible following his 'Read The Bible in a Year" calendar book, fishing, cooking, baking, knitting, (especially with his knitting buddy Christine Cracknell from Heartland Hospice, and teaching Arabella how to knit), watching his DVD movies, tennis and 'Highway Thru Hell' (where the wreckers rescue semis), building bee hives, and spending time outside. He was a jack of all trades, always willing to help anyone with anything and was the “go to guy” for family and friends. Frank will be greatly missed. On Thursday, July 8, 2021 visitation will be from 11:00 am to Noon EST, followed by a funeral service at Hudson Lake Church of Christ, 8426 E Ivy Blvd, New Carlisle, IN. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery, where Military Honors will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Heartland Hospice, 230 W.
