SOUTH BEND - Monica M. "Busia" Cieplinski, 86, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in Hospice House. Monica was born on January 12, 1922, in South Bend, to the late John and Blanche (Lodyga) Osmanski. On September 8, 1951, Monica married Stanley Cieplinski, who passed away on November 7, 1977. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Adaline Kanczuzewski and Gertrude Sikorski; and by a brother, Edward Osmanski. Monica is survived by her children, Susan (Scott) St. Germain of South Bend, Stanley J. (Darlene) Cieplinski of Chandler, AZ, and Eugene Cieplinski of South Bend; grandchildren, Sarah and Rachel Cieplinski of Chandler, AZ, Krystal and Scottie St. Germain of South Bend, and Matt Cieplinski of South Bend; her first great-grandchild, due in March; a sister, Genevieve Howard of South Bend; 10 nieces and three nephews; and her faithful companion, "Kitty." Monica retired as a cashier from Kuberski Supermarket. She was a parishioner at St. Adalbert Catholic Church and was a member of the Rosary Society, Harvest House, Sister's Auxiliary and the Democratic Club. She enjoyed working out in her yard, but especially her favorite pastime was going to the boat, bingo, and just hanging out with her daughter's mother-in-law and best friend, Judi St. Germain. She was a very loving mother and grandmother, and touched everyone in her life. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to the Pet Refuge, Inc., 2300 W. 6th St., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
