NEW CARLISLE - Joseph F. Kafka, 71, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born November 24, 1946 to the late Chester & Carrie “Busia” (Pionstka) Kafka. Joe was preceded in death by a son, Joseph (Joey) Kafka; and his brother, Richard Kafka. On October 8, 1966, Joseph married Mona (Kluszczynski) Kafka; she survives along with daughter, Angela (Jon) Schroeder of New Carlisle; brother, Marvin (Mary) Kafka of Sparta, TN; sisters, Martha Kugler of New Carlisle and Annette (Terry) Krisher of Niles, MI; and grandchildren, Owen, Olivia, and Olaina Schroeder. Joseph honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka where he belonged to the Ushers Club. Joseph retired in 2001 from Indiana Bell/Ameritech where he was a telephone repairman. His grandchildren were the most precious things in his life and he considered his daughter and son-in-law a gift from God. Visitation for Joseph will be held 3:00pm to 7:00pm (EST) Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary to be prayed at 3:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am (EST) Thursday, May 24, 2018 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. Burial will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery.
