South Bend - Eugene Robert Wisniewski, 88, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018.
Eugene was born April 20, 1929 in South Bend, to the late William and Pearl (Chodzinski) Wisniewski. On February 18, 1950 Eugene married his loving wife Dolores (McClone) Wisniewski, she survives along with their children, Deborah (David) Mitchell, and Robert (Mary Lou) Wisniewski; , grandchildren, Marc (Kathie) Wisniewski, Beth (Joe) Heinzman, Michael Wisniewski, Christopher Mitchell, Steven (Jessica) Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Abbi Wisniewski, Patrick, Katie & Jack Heinzman, Sophie & Oliver Mitchell; brothers, Thomas Wisniewski, and Morrie (Vivian) Yergeau. Gene graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1949. He built homes for Colpaert Homes on the West side of South Bend for many years during WWII for the Veterans when they return home. He later worked in Quality Control for Wheel Horse Corporation. Gene was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Gene was a great husband and father, and loved spending time and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they brought him much happiness. Visitation will be held 2:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, March 19, 2018 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Funeral Ceremony will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in the Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial Contributions may be made to Center for Hospice Care or Holy Family Church.
