SOUTH BEND - Anna Hornyak, 93, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009, in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton. Anna was born on September 1, 1915, in South Bend, to Dominick and Amelia (Sienkiewicz) Kurlowicz. She was employed by Wilson Brothers for 25 years and was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church. On December 1, 1934, as Anna Kurlowicz, she married Steven Hornyak, who died on April 24, 1993. Anna was also preceded in death by four sisters, Bernice Cygirt, Estelle Voynovich, Phyllis Ryback and Lottie Kippes; and by a brother, Frank Kurlowicz. Surviving are two sisters, Jennie Glunt of South Bend and Evelyn Hunt of Colorado; and a brother, Edward (Gloria) Korlowicz of South Bend. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009, in the Zahoran Funeral Home. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern Indiana.
