South Bend - Robert J. Leszczynski, 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Bud was born November 14, 1930, two months after his father passed, in South Bend to Edward and Bernice (Lenczowski) Leszczynski. Bud is preceded in death by his mother; former wife, Annette (Blankenship); and brothers, Richard & Edward Leszczynski. Survivors of Bud include his children, Robert (Nancy) Leszczynski of Fort Wayne, Valerie (Rob) Golden of Middlebury, and Jessica (Kyle) Good of South Bend; grandchildren, John Leszczynski, Jennifer (Eric) Keller, Zachary (Lisa) Golden, Samuel (Rebecca) Golden, Olivia Golden, Darren Good, Nicholas Good; and great-granddaughter, Stella Golden. Bud proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1989 from the United States Post Office where he was a letter carrier for 34 years. Bud was also a member of VFW #9820 and the NALC (National Assoc. of Letter Carriers). He played and coached 16 inch slow pitch softball, bowled in leagues and tournaments. Bud enjoyed travel, including his 6 week Australia adventure. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening, cooking, commercial free TV, current events, a really good deal, and triple coupons. He was an avid Chicago sports fan, especially the Bears and Cubs; he lived to see the 2016 Cubs World Series Championship. Most of all Bud loved time spent with family, friends and their pets. A Private Family Service and Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery will take place at a later date. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd is assisting the family. In Bud’s memory, remember to show appreciation to your letter carrier. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
