[N19614] Bernard "Bernie" Miskowicz
April 21, 1940 - August 07, 2018
Bernard J. “Bernie” Miskowicz, age 78, of Cassopolis, Michigan and Harvey, Illinois, died peacefully Tuesday morning, August 7, 2018 in his residence in the comfort of his family’s presence. He was born April 21, 1940 in Blue Island, Illinois, the oldest of three children born to Stanley and Victoria Miskowicz. He married Marlene Diane Ordakowski November 4, 1994 in Chicago, Illinois. She survives. Bernie enjoyed fishing, going to the Outer Banks with his best friend, Ray Smock, and going up to Ludington with his brother, John, his nephews, Craig and Steve, and his sons. He enjoyed boating, sailing, water skiing, snow skiing and cooking on the grill. Each year Bernie hosted Thanksgiving dinner for his entire family and took pride in showing off his turkey grilling expertise. He was an avid White Sox fan, and, yet, still married a Cubs fan. Though not normally a “cat person,” he had a special relationship with Marlene’s cat, Chi-Guy, who watched over Bernie throughout his battle with cancer. Bernie will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of almost twenty-four years, Marlene Ordakowski of Chicago; one daughter, Michelle Miskowicz of Cassopolis; three sons, Paul (Janet) Miskowicz of Denver, Colorado, Dan (Nicole) Miskowicz of Cassopolis, Christopher (Limi) Miskowicz of Chicago; two grandchildren, Rachel Miskowicz and Peter Miskowicz, both of Denver; one brother, John (Laurelle) Miskowicz of LaPorte, Indiana; and a host of sisters in law, brothers in law, and nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until time of the Scripture service at 7:00 p.m. (Michigan Time) in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with the Reverend Fr. Bob Flickinger officiating. We will also gather at the funeral home Wednesday morning, August 15, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. until we process to Prospect Hill Cemetery for a Graveside service at 11:00 a.m. (Michigan Time). The family prefers contributions be made in Bernie’s memory to American Cancer Society, 129 Jefferson Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 48823. Arrangements have been entrusted to Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis. Please share a memory or a message online.
