Services will be held at a later date for Barbara Ruth Janus, 89, who passed away peacefully at her home on November 13, 2020. Barbara was born on June 20, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Harold G. and Ruth C. (Knutson) Sorensen. She graduated from Steinmetz High School in Elmwood Park, IL and from Illinois Masonic Hospital School of Nursing, where she worked for a while before her marriage. On June 6, 1953, Barbara married Henry F. Janus in Elmwood Park, IL. They moved to South Bend, where she worked as a surgical nurse at Memorial Hospital. Barbara was a member of Service Guild and the Art League. She also served on the Altar Guild at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and loved her sewing group. Surviving Barbara are her three children, Neal (Denise) Janus of Rochester Hills, MI, Beth Ann “Buffy” (Fred) Davis of Boardman, OH and Julie (Dan) Crimmins of Bridgeman, MI; six grandchildren, A.H. (Heather) Davis, Jessica (Ryan) Haveman, Kyle (Aleyse) Davis, Christopher (Emily) Janus, Jay Davis and Kelsey (Kyle) Sell; and eight great grandchildren, Owen, Emmett, Addilyn, Kate, Tate, Jovie, Maeve and Jolene; as well as a sister, Beverly Larson, and brothers Harold “Bud” Sorensen and Neal Sorensen. Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, is a grandson, Sean Crimmins. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care given to Barbara by her caregivers, the Pozzi Group of Deb, Aretha, Bonnie, Ashlyn and Bonnie. In memory of Barbara, the family requests that contributions may be offered to Logan Center, 2505 E. Jefferson Blvd, South Bend, IN 46615 in Nicolas Crimmins’ name.
