Clara "Jane" Graf , 87, residing on Guam Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, in her home. She worked at Cliff's Tavern as cook for several years. Mrs. Graf was born on Sept. 17, 1915, in South Bend, Ind., to Samuel and Bessie (Cabanaw) Clem, and had lived in this area all of her life. On Oct. 24, 1942, in Joplin, Mo., she married George P. Graf , who preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Jane Graf in 1947; her granddaughter, Jennifer Creighton in 1974; and by three sisters, Marian Dopieralski, Bernice Workman and Violet Morrow. Mrs. Graf is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Doug Redman of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Gary (Barbara Reed) Creighton and Missy Creighton; two great-grandchildren, Jessica Creighton and Gary DeWayne Creighton; one sister, Edith Cleghorn of Denver, Colo.; three nieces, Sandy Surma of Rolling Prairie, Ind., Kay Siade of Granger, Ind., and Karen Lowery of New Carlisle, Ind.; and by several other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Graf was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and a past member of the Rosary Society. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will truly be missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Avenue, Mishawaka. Rev. James Stoyle will officiate. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Contributions in memory of Clara "Jane" Graf may be made to the Cancer Society of St. Joseph County, 711 E. Colfax, South Bend, IN 46617; or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Published in the South Bend Tribune, July 17, 2003.
