MISHAWAKA -- Grace E. Vellner-Lashmit, 83, of Maplewood Avenue, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 15, 2004) at Regency Place. She was born July 26, 1920, in Gary, W.V., to Michael and Julia (Nagy) Merencsics, now both deceased. She married Mike Vellner on Aug. 7, 1943, and he preceded her in death. She later married the Rev. Paul Lashmit, who also preceded her in death.Mrs. Vellner-Lashmit is survived by three sons, the Rev. Michael J. (Marilyn) Vellner of South Bend, Steve Vellner of Mishawaka and James (Brenda) Vellner of Granger; two stepsons, Paul (Rose) and Dave (Carolyn) Lashmit, both of Elkhart; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Grzadziela of South Bend.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Funeral Home on Mayflower Road in South Bend, where the 10 a.m. Tuesday funeral will be held. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in South Bend.
