NILES - Alice L. Chrzan, 100, of Niles, MI, passed away on Wednesday at Westwood Nursing Home, Niles. She was born on October 17, 1915, in New York, NY, to the late Frederick G. and Maria (Bittlingmeyer) Shields. Also preceding her in death were her brother, Frederick Shields; and four sisters, Rose Nemeth, Edna Kreciedlo, Marie Tornrose and Irene Barbour. Alice is survived by her daughter, Maria (Larry) Born of Niles, MI; and three grandchildren, Jason D. (Jennifer) Born, Melissa Born of Davenport, FL, and Tanya M. Born. Mrs. Chrzan worked for National Bank in South Bend and was a member of the Cathedral of St. James Episcopal Church for over 60 years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 2 pm at the Cathedral of St. James Episcopal Church, 117 N. Lafayette Blvd., South Bend, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
