ELKHART - Leona (Lee) Dvorak, 82, passed away peacefully on April 17 in Elkhart Hospice House surrounded by her loving family after an extended illness. Lee was born on May 9, 1933 in South Bend to the late Harry and Helen (Rudynski) Janowczyk. On May 31, 1956 she married James (Norm) Dvorak who preceded her in death. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred L. and Ronald J. Janowczyk.She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Thomas) Hines, Robert (Lynn) Dvorak, both of Elkhart, Kevin Dvorak of Crown Point, and Pamela (Kelly) Corkill of Boulder, CO, with 9 grandchildren and 17great-grandchildren, and a sister, Rita Kuskye of South Bend. Lee graduated from South Bend Catholic High School in 1951 and retired from the former South Bend Toy Factory. Lee was a feisty hands-on mom to her children and their friends who always gathered at her house and cheering them on in their sports and activities. When she spoke, you knew you were being spoken to!She enjoyed her late nights putting her puzzles together, playing cards monthly with her South Bend Toy co-workers, reading, playing bingo and cooking and baking in keeping with her Polish heritage of which she was very good at. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family and friends. She had peace with her illness and was ready to meet her Lord and heavenly family.As per wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. A mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St in Elkhart on April 21 at 11:00 AM. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Elkhart Hospice House for their comfort and gentle care during her stays at the facility.Chapel Hill Funeral Home of Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers the families preferred memorial be to the D.A.V. Chapter 19 in Elkhart.
