[N5567] Frank J. Coussens
March 10, 1934 - April 13, 2013
MISHAWAKA - Frank J. Coussens, 79, of Mishawaka, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 13th, at Sterling House of South Bend. Frank was born in Mishawaka on March 10, 1934, to the late Camiel and Irene (Strantz) Coussens. A graduate of Washington-Clay High School, Frank went on to Michigan State for both his undergraduate degree and doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He cherished his membership in the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity throughout his life. He owned Coussens Wholesale Meats. Frank had an avid passion for the outdoors, belonging to the Viking and St. Joe Valley Ski Clubs, along with involvement in the East Race Waterway and the St. Joseph River Run, winning the father-daughter race in 1977. He was also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Frank is survived by his daughters, Julie (Chuck) Trippel of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and Patty (Buff Reynolds) Newton of Missoula, Montana. He was a proud grandfather of six, Rachel, Matthew, Connor, Kevin, Kara and Adrienne. He is also survived by three brothers, Paul (Virginia) Coussens of South Bend, Henry (Mary Lou) Coussens of Kentland, Indiana, and John Coussens of Mishawaka; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Coussens of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Charles. As per Frank's often expressed wish, there will be no memorial service. Cremation is to take place. Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., assisted the family with arrangements. In keeping with his life-long support of those facing extra challenges, anyone making a memorial contribution is asked to consider Reins of Life, 55200 Quince Road, South Bend, Indiana 46619.
