NORTH LIBERTY - Gloria Deane Kotal, 76, of North Liberty, IN, passed away at 3:55 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011, in Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle, IN, after a long illness. She was born on September 5, 1934, in Gary, IN, to Joseph J. and Rose E. (Carrico) Valovich. Gloria's life is celebrated by her children, Frances M. Touhey of Mishawaka, IN, Thomas C. Touhey Jr. of Koontz Lake, IN, Theresa R. (Brian) Eckert of New Carlisle, IN, Laurie A. Touhey of New Carlisle, IN, Joseph Timothy (Lisa) Touhey of Cassopolis, MI, and Rachel L. (Dave) Williams of South Bend, IN. She will always by loved by her grandchildren, Sarah L. (Jack) Barbour, Ruth E (Al) Clark, Matthew Touhey, Andrea N. (Justin) Goss, Chase E. Touhey, Celia R. (Adam) McCarty, Melanie M. Voss, Joseph L. (Colleen) Voss, Timothy P. (Carley) Touhey, Sean M. Touhey, Charles L. Touhey, Joseph J. Touhey, Jesse D. Williams and Cody J. Williams. Twenty-three great-grandchildren will share memories of visiting the "cow grandma." Two great-great-grandchildren and those yet unborn will grow up with stories of her delicious pies, unconditional love and her charity. Gloria was the eldest sister of Charles E. Valovich, Rose E. (Charles) Sorg, Stephen A. (Linda) Valovich, Joan S. (Everett) Lee and Ruth A. Blystone, who survive. A special nephew, John (Celeste) Dooms of North Liberty, IN, also survives her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Thomas C. Touhey Sr. and Joseph F. Kotal; her beloved daughter, Christina M. (Touhey) Voss; her beautiful grandson, Seth I. Eckert; brother, Joseph J. Valovich Jr.; and brother-in-law, Frank E. Kotal.
