SOUTH BEND - South Bend - Loraine Rita Strzelecki, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Tanglewood Trace. Rita was born April 7, 1928 in South Bend, to the late Alex and Josephine (Nowicki) Leszcz. On October 25, 1947 in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Rita married her loving husband Harry Strzelecki. He preceded her in death on July 2, 2008. Rita was also preceded in death by her brothers, John and Alex Leszcz; and a sister, Dorothy Kwieran. Survivors of Rita include her children, Ronald J. (Cynthia) Strzelecki of Granger, Connie (Chris) Grabowski of South Bend, and Dale (Renie) Strzelecki of Granger; grandchildren, J.J. (Stacey) Mullins, Christopher (Angela) Grabowski, Cara Grabowski, Garrett Strzelecki, Tyler Strzelecki, Kelsey Strzelecki and Ryne Strzelecki; great-grandchildren, Gracie Mullins, Louie Grabowski, and Teddy Grabowski and sister, Evelyn Czuk. Rita retired in 1980 from South Bend Toy. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Parish. In Rita's early years, she loved traveling, and watching her son play baseball. She also enjoyed playing cards, watching Notre Dame Football, baking, particularly apple pies, watching old TV shows, eating her sweets, and especially her dogs. Most of all Rita loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation for Rita will be 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 5:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 10, 2017 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 331 S. Scott St., South Bend. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Rita's family would like to thank the staff at Tanglewood Trace especially nurses, Janet and Carol for their kind and generous help and an additional thank you to the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care for their assistance.
