MISHAWAKA - Helen Marie Piercy, 97, of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's, South Bend. Helen was born October 29, 1916, in Mishawaka, a daughter of the late John and Bessie (Neupert) Steinhauser. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1935, and lived in the Mishawaka/South Bend area her entire life. Helen retired in 1974 from Uniroyal where she worked in both clerical and quality control, and belonged to the Uniroyal Ladies Club. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. Helen enjoyed reading, playing cards and traveling, especially to Branson, Missouri. Helen's surviving family includes three nephews, Dennis Brittain of Michigan City, Michael Lutes of Texas and Jamie Dyer of Portage, Michigan; a sister, Virginia Dyer of Kalamazoo, Michigan; a niece, Cindy Brittain-Burkett of Mishawaka; and great-nieces and nephews, Crystal, Lucas, Daniel and Abigail Burkett. Helen was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Lutes, Mary Jane Dickens and Betty Brittain. Visitation will take place Sunday, November 17, from 1:30 - 2:45 pm in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's, South Bend. The Rosary will be prayed at 2:45 pm and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3 pm. Private burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
