Emily Mais, 92, of Patty Lane, South Bend, Ind., died at 4:19 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, in St. Joseph's Medical Center. She was born on June 27, 1905, in South Bend. On May 25, 1943, in South Bend, as Emily Borowski, she married Michael John Mais, who preceded her in death in 1985. Emily was also preceded in death by her son, Eugene Borowski in 1991. Emily is survived by two daughters, Sue Mais of Mishawaka and Helen McVey of San Bernadino, Calif.; and by her son, Fred Mais of Woodland Park, Colo.; ten grandchildren, Candice, Kelly, Katherine, Christine, Natalie, Paulette, Linda, Becky, Jason and Mike; eleven great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Doris Hague; and by a stepson, Roger Mais. Emily was a member of the church, Harvest House, and was a volunteer at REAL Services. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in St. Anthony DePadua Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph P.R.C. Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood, with a Rosary recited at 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
