SOUTH BEND - Bernice Daszynski, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, in Hospice House, South Bend. Bernice was born on October 31, 1921, in Susanville, CA, to Jules and Erma (DePauw) Minne. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Paul Minne; and a grandson, Troy Hillaert. On January 26, 1946, as the former Bernice Minne, she married Edward J. Daszynski, who preceded her in death on January 16, 2007. Surviving are a son, Larry (Lynn) Daszynski of Sarasota, FL; a daughter, Carol Hillaert of South Bend; grandchildren, Todd (Claudia) and Trent (Michelle) Hillaert, Brad and Kelly Daszynski; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Brigette, Nicole, Maisy Grace and Jacquline Hillaert. Bernice was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club. Bernice enjoyed bowling with her ladies league. Bernice and Eddie enjoyed traveling, especially to their summer home in Florida for several years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 22, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 5 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 23, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Jude Catholic Church, South Bend, with Monsignor John Kuzinich officiating. Burial at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
